democratic imperfection is forgiveable or ignorable, whilst republican errors are glaring and central to the flaw in their makeup. there is no feeding frenzy of self righteous indignation so hypocritically outraged as liberal democratic fervor. what makes people feel good about democratic pits of folly is that the basis for the ld outlook is a wooly haze of visionary idealism that is able to overcome the cosmic quantities of doubt that pervade less perfect philosophies.
