MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 2006--FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), the leading developer of proven data protection solutions, today announced it has been selected as a finalist for the Most Valuable Product (MVP) Awards in the Data Protection Software category for its VirtualTape Library (VTL) solution, and in the Most Innovative Product category for its DiskSafe(TM) product. Winners will be announced during an awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Storage World Conference Spring 2006.

The MVP Awards Program recognizes the "best of the best" of storage networking products in the industry, as determined by storage endusers. This prestigious awards program is co-sponsored by two user-focused organizations: InfoStor magazine, the leading storage-specific publication for enterprise storage professionals, and the Association of Storage Networking Professionals (ASNP), the first worldwide organization dedicated to the needs of storage networking users. This is the only industry awards program where the winners are selected exclusively by endusers among InfoStor's 22,800 end-user readers and ASNP's 2000+ members.

"The ASNP congratulates all the MVP finalists. We are pleased to co-sponsor these awards with InfoStor and look forward to the award presentation at Storage World Conference in June," said Daniel Delshad, chairman of ASNP.

"InfoStor congratulates all of the MVP finalists," said Dave Simpson, editor-in-chief of InfoStor. "Companies such as FalconStor have demonstrated technology leadership and innovation that set them apart from others in the industry. Final voting is now in the hands of end-users, who are best equipped to determine the most valuable products according to their criteria." End-users may vote at storageworldconference.com.

FalconStor's unique VirtualTape Library (VTL) software consolidates the management of backup resources while enhancing the reliability and speed of backup operations and accelerating the speed of recovery. FalconStor VTL leverages industry standard high-speed disk to provision virtual tape drives and libraries to backup servers attached to an iSCSI/IP or Fibre Channel (FC) storage area network (SAN), without the need to change existing backup software configurations and therefore preserving the investment in backup policy and IT staff's operating knowledge.

FalconStor DiskSafe is a host-based replication solution that provides automated continuous or scheduled replication of data and system disks to a local or offsite FalconStor storage appliance, delivering centralized data protection and rapid, highly granular data recovery for systems with direct attached storage (DAS). Easy to use and quickly deployable on laptops, workstations, and servers to provide IP-based replication over the WAN, this solution is also ideal for consolidating the backup of branch office databases, messaging systems, and files, as well as data residing on the machines of road warriors.

"We're honored that FalconStor's VirtualTape Library and DiskSafe solutions are being considered for this 'best of the best' award," said ReiJane Huai, chairman and CEO, FalconStor. "We strive to stay ahead of the market's needs by working with our expanding network of customers, OEM partners and VARs. As a result, more and more organizations are turning to FalconStor for cost-effective solutions that enhance the reliability, speed, and management of their backups."
