Something like 2000 high rises were completed in Shanghai last year -- it would be beyond comprehension if they were full at this point. It could take years and prices could and are highly likely to cool. Imagine that all the high rise space in Manhattan (this is roughly equal to the # completed in Shanghai last year) was built and put on the market last year -- would you be surprised that it took a while to sell? One of the real problems with reports from China is that we have no way at al to put it in perspective because we have never ever even imagined anything like what is happening there, much less seen it for ourselves.
