Seriously, hemp is a great source of energy and paper, as well as other uses. It's ridiculous it's illegal. The real reason it was made illegal was because the paper companies didn't want the competition while they were busy cutting down our forests. This should be a 100% bi-partisan issue.

We are way beyond the point where we can tolerate that sort of thing. Our forests are in serious trouble now, and we were desperately need to use all forms of US-grown vegetation to create fuel, including corn, sugar cane, waste oils, garbage, hemp, you name it. As well as solar, wind and yes even nuclear. Let's use what we have readily available and readily growable. That includes hemp, but hemp is just part of a much broader solution.

And no, you can't smoke hemp. It has no THC in it.
