Caly, consumers will buy what they can afford, and fuel
prices and operating expenses are being felt, even by
ignorant consumers. You are correct, it is not up to
the government to protect people from their own stupidity,
but when special interest organizations brazenly prevent
technological innovation via litigious methods, the government
must protect the long term interests of the general public or
else the needs of a modern society cannot progress or improve.
