I don't see anyone mentioning the extra revenue that the Federal govt gets from all the oil and gas leases on Federal land and water. In the Gulf of Mexico, they skim 1/8 off the top from deep water production and 1/6 from shallower water. The OMM which collects this money is the second highest money earner for the Feds, second only to the IRS. At $70+ per barrel, thay are pulling a ton more than they were just a couple of years ago.
