A rather silly statement. The supply and demand for different types of work is the prime factor in compensation received for that work.

Hardly. John Bogle, the longtime chairman of Vanguard, argues, in his most recent book, that the corporate capitalism we witness now is one controlled by executives and their appointed board members, all in the interest of short term stock market gains.

Provides a different structure for pay raises for the upper levels in corporate life.
