Do you guys know about the coming policy change instigated by the Bush Cabal in the name of Homeland Security? (Man, every time I type that benighted phrase I get a sick Orwellian feeling in the pit of my stomach.) Right now Canadians and Americans can cross their joint border with just picture ID like driver's licenses. But within a year, to cross the border from Canada to the US will require a passport, even if you're an American. American visits to Canada plummetted post-9/11 and have failed to recover. Since so few Americans have a passport, a far lower proportion than the inhabitants of any other First World country, this provision will instill a serious chill in US/Canadian interaction. The Americans are already worried about us selling our resources to other nations like China and India, but this provision will further that realignment significantly IMO. LC
