ASND may not be a good fit for LU, but further consolidation in the networking is in the cards: COMS-USRX-ASND-CSCC as the only alternative to compete against big CSCO? Down the road this is a possible solution. In the meantime FORE will be the next takeout candidate as ATM biz clearly picks up!

The market's shortsightedness is giving us an opportunity to pick up some ASND at a deep discount to its future growth rate. Let us not forget that ASND has established relationships with all major US ISPs, does over 25% of its biz with NTT and the balance with all major European Telcos. What's more importnat, they are not about to lose any of this biz! It is just a matter of fixing a few bugs.

On the other hand, ATM biz is red hot (see NN wins) and CSCC with ASND is probably the second largest player: NTT backbone is theirs and I would not be surprised to see other major contracts to be announced soon.

So stay tuned, you may not be given the opportunity to pick up cheap ASND shares for long! It is all perception (ASND has problems) versus reality (data communication equipment demand will continue to grow into next century as new player will come on board). And ASND has critical mass and tech leadership to reap great benefits in this market!
