RT, to put it plain and simple, I have no clue??? I do not short stocks and have no plans to start. One reason I guess has to do with a book I finished a few months ago....it's called The EDUCATION of a SPECULATOR, By Victor Niederhoffer...........a paragraph on page 46 has been stuck in my brain, it goes like this....Remembering the 1931 bloodbaths, Martin(his uncle) liked to sell short the first day after a panic. that's one of the only mistakes I haven't made more than two or three times. I don't like to sell stocks short. The brokers have all sorts of contrived reasons for refusing to pay intrest on the credit balances. I lose an intrest rate, a dividend, and a risk premium when I short. SOROS told me once that he lost more money selling short than any other speculative activity. My experience is similar. The advice that comes down the pike from authors of stock market doom books-that individual investors should sell short-is a ticket to the POORHOUSE!....Call me crazy, but I tend to listen to advice from someone who is a Harvard grad and a University of Chicago PhD in finance. besides, I find plenty of other ways to lose my money(g). Now back to vvus.
