I was reading comments on other boards. They seem to think that because Snow has a certain persona and characteristics -- he seems to be honest and have integrity -- that as press secretary he will be as objective as he was as a reporter.

I don't mean to go into the entire concept of Snow's honesty and integrity, but be that as it may, as press secretary his job will be to present his boss's point of view in a way which is flattering to his boss.

Boiled down to the essentials, he will be obliged to vouch when vouching is called for.

There won't be any room for the other side of the story.

I expect that there will be an unfortunate tendency to believe that he must be telling the truth because "you can't tell lies on TV."

Which leads me to believe that this is just too cynical, an all too cynical attempt to pull the wool over certain people's eyes. The base. Funny how that has so many meanings.

Sort of like having Karl Rove as the keynote speaker for the annual Federalist Society convention. I kid you not. I let my membership in that formerly august body lapse in protest. Whatever you think of George W. Bush and/or Karl Rove, they are the very antithesis of limited government.
