TJ, it never occurred to me that Manchuria would be anything but part of China. I think of Manchuria as being core China, albeit a bit chilly in winter. But looking around to find bits and pieces which could become independent, I had to come up with something. If there's a different word for somewhere, it at least indicates a slight issue of difference and hence potential independence. That Xinjiang place didn't sound very significant and Tibet seems well crushed, but any port in a storm. If there's internal Falun Gong democratic revolution in Beijing, it'll be like the USSR = a power vacuum in the remote areas which easily leads to independent thinking.

Apostrophe alert and sloppiness too: <King George II wants to show whose alpha males on planet Earth at present. > of course should be "to show who's alpha male on planet Earth"

Unfortunately for George the Younger, like most entitled people, who are living and spivving on the productive labours, energies, creativity and values of those who have gone before, they don't have much clue on frugality for a start, let alone the other essential virtues to build a better world. Spending, and especially spending OPM, [other people's money], becomes second nature and what's worse, an entitlement. No wonder revolution comes often enough in human history that the word remains in the language.

I don't think it's right to say King George II has done nothing except waste OPM. Afghanistan got sorted out [the Taleban and AlQ component] to a large extent. Saddam's sons won't be torturing anyone else. Saddam won't pull out a gun any time soon and shoot a few people who rubbed him the wrong way. China will think twice about testing the waters around Taiwan while such a rabid primate in in the White House cage, rattling the bars and firing off rockets and Predators. Libya cancelled their nuclear bomb programme and signed up for cash flow. When he starts fondling his weapon and eyeing somebody, that somebody sensibly gets very nervous. Bill Clinton as POTUS was busy with office business with the girls. King George II doesn't have that distraction so tends to do what alpha males on the make who haven't got a harem like to do.
