Looking at the Anandtech article about GPU performance, I think I'm going to have to scale back my settings quite a bit when I get a little further into the game. So far, I've only logged a couple of hours on it, and it hasn't been too bad, though a bit choppy at some points. By the looks of it, there is far more demanding stuff to come for the video card.
One of the other things that I'll have to look at are some of the tweak guides. Looking at the comments section of the article, it seems as though there are some that can increase the performance 50% or so. Right now, though, I haven't really been playing it much since we just got a gamecube and are working on Zelda: Wind Waker. Combined with the fact that we have 3 kids, I don't really get much time for games anyway.
On the CPU side, just judging by the hurt this game puts on $1000+ graphics cards, I think just about any modern processor will do fine. I like the prospects of the X2 4000+ for overclocking, but if I were you, I would probably wait to see what king of clocks are typical of the new revision before jumping in. Unfortunately, I don't know that you would want to wait that long in your situation or if you are into OC.
