babs, I will be around, watching when to jump back in. And if I do buy some Cray, this seems to be the best place on SI to get info. Are there any other active threads on Cray? All I have found was Yahoo board, which is polluted with political garbage. I think the AMD thing has a lot further to go than Ref F. There is K8L, quad core, there are rumors of the Anti-Hyperthrading, which seems like a way to go if it does deliver increased IPC. Maybe this is just a view of a lazy programmer, but the last thing I want to hear is that we have reached the end of single thread performance, ant that to get more performance will need the drudgery of parallelising the code....
