I'm not against development of ethanol-based fuels, in fact, it seems to be a good thing overall. I just don't think it will be sufficient in and of itself, especially in the near term. And I think that the political focus on ethanol is a means for avoiding the necessary near term regulatory (relief) actions wrt oil (sources, refineries, etc.)
