Jeffrey, >>However, 1996 4th quarter earnings were .92. What if ADBE matched that number this year? <<

From Adobe's press release at the time, last year's 4th quarter earnings "included earnings per share of $0.43 from various non-recurring items principally related to venture investments. Normalized earnings per share were $0.49."

Similarly, while they reported $.72 for the quarter just ended, the normalized EPS was $.55. Normalized EPS for the 1st and 2nd quarters was reported at $.61 and $.57 respectively, not much difference from the non-normalized results.

While I agree with your conclusion that Adobe represents excellent value at today's price level, I think we need to keep our focus on these *normalized* results that Adobe takes such great pains to provide. IMO, the key going forward is to generate sustained revenue growth. EPS growth will follow as surely as the day follows the night.
