I'm starting to wonder if SUN will add Intel-based x86 servers to their lineup. They've always said that if Intel has a competitive part, they'll consider it... I wonder how sweet a deal they could get from Intel to do this, Intel motivated by the resultant PR blow to AMD. They could still position each line, saying they recommend Intel parts in 1S and 2S, and Opteron in 4S and 8S (and also 2S "depending on workload" or some such.)

Didn't they say they'd be launching a huge number of new x64 systems over the next 6 months?
