The reason why? Faulty philosophy. It's not that it's faulty, so much as just their chimpanzee nature continuing it's normal way. It's just faulty for the way civilization works. If we don't have civilization, then they are quite right to be evil doers, subjugate, threaten, confiscate, conquer. That's how life has always been in red and tooth and claw nature. Gang vs gang and winner gets the territory and the girls.
The problem is very deep in our DNA, and philosophy is adopted without thinking properly.
Geode is a classic case. They think themselves the goodies, but in fact it's exactly their philosophies which drive the conflicts. It's quite strange really. Osama thinks he's a good guy too. Hordes of people think he's a good guy. They are doing monkey thinking.
Once they are off on the Geode philosophy, there's no boundary including rape and murder. Once "voluntary" is removed, we are into the jungle. The driving emotion is envy. "They have it. I want it. I take it. By hook or by crook by gun or by vote." Geode is envious.
Unfortunately, we are trying to overlay civilization on 6 billion people who in living memory got property mostly by conquest. They are still doing it. Democracies do that too, via taxes and other confiscations, but on a more reasonable basis, for the most part. They usually don't shoot you AND take your property. If you don't resist, they just take your property now. Geode likes to take property. Most people do. They are envious evil-doers. Criminals are just doing the same in a private capacity.
