BTW, when I made these posts, I thought that I would just go first and that lots of others on the thread would be doing the same... Hmmm... it wasn't long before I started to geel pretty darned SHEEPISH for my posts... but luckily Al R came to the rescue and posted his "pick discussion" too... Thank you AL!!
Well, for what it is worth to anyone, here is a short commentary on my picks... a sort of "update" on the information in my earlier posts...
AIV.T = A.I.T. (Advanced Information Technologies): The Ottawa-based company that specializes in security technology for airports, etc... Still having a difficult time coming back from some problems last year... and still trading in the $2.60 - $2.90 range... I was sort of hopeful that they would move during Q3... they made some headway financially, but I think it will take 1 or 2 more quarters to convince anyone that the "comeback" is for real... if indeed it is to happen...
DAX.T = Draxis Health Inc. This is the pharmaceutical company which is marketing an interesting medication for dogs... and is distributing through a large U.S. company. It seems that they have also complete their acquisition of the radiopharmaceutical division of Merck Frosst of Canada... They did acquire some stiff debt load, but their latest press releases "seem" to indicate that this will not be a problem... Guess we'll have to see... The stock trades up and down quite regularly but is showing growing strength.
TRE.A (TSE) = Sino-Forest Corporation. Well, here was the real "success story" amongst my picks. I chose it even though I was fairly concerned about the "HongKong transfer of power". The story seemed great... a company that coordinates aspects of tree plantations, chipping, etc... for pulp and paper and wood-fibre products. I think the story is as good or even better than before. They have announced success with a new tree species from Scandanavia which grows very fast on their Asain plantations... and also success with experiments with new tree varieties for wood fibre board... Once again, the "political aspects" of this play could always prove to be its downfall. But it remains interesting nonetheless...
BEN.T and FDE.T: Benson Petroleum and Founders Energy: Well, I still like these small oil producers. IMO, they still seem to be on track, I think we will see some increased production from them in the future, and both should benefit from the fall/winter cyclical rise in oils (if nothing weird happens to upset the applecart...). Both stocks have traded up and down quite a lot, but have definitely been on the rise since the Q3 contest began...
Anyhow, everyone should do their own DD on these if they are interested... I may not have all of the facts straight, etc... and wouldn't want to lead anyone "astray"... (-:
TO ALL!! Hope some of you post some analysis/ideas/updates here so that I won't look like such a dummy!!!! LOL!
