Anyone who's been in the 8am or 5pm traffic jam in any major metropolitan area KNOWS where we could easily save 50% of the gas we consume.

The one I lived with for a decade was in San Diego. I'd drive from Oceanside to La Jolla to work, a distance of about 25 miles. Easily 20 miles x 4 lanes of bumper to bumper giant SUV's with ONE passenger averaging about 5 mph. On one of the 5 rain days a year, I'd take my truck, and the trip sometimes took 1 1/2 hours. Most of the time I split lanes on my bike, and the trip took 30 minutes.

Convert all those commuting one-passenger SUV's to tiny hybrids! In a 5 mph traffic jam, a hybrid uses NO gas at all, it stays in electric mode.

To get the people OUT of the SUV's and INTO the tiny hybrids, you need some public policy incentives. Dumbya? YOU'RE the leader...
