Clarke contradicted that UNDER OATH during his sworn testimony during the Iraq War. He was under oath in front of the country on TV when he told us the call came down from the White House chief of staff or the Secretary Of State. That testimony makes total sense and is logical. His later statement (not under oath) does not make sense and you know it.

Clarke would not have had the unilateral authority to OK such controversial flights (knowing Bush-Cheney are tightly connected to the Saudi big wigs and that the hijackers were mostly Saudis) therefore it is very highly unlikely Clarke would have done this on his own. At least he would have consulted with the White House. He also said in the 9-11 testimony that the request came from the Saudi Embassy. If so, again he would have cleared it with his bosses first before OK'ing anything so controversial and politically sensitive. Therefore, looks like CLarke lied later on.

But you can believe whatever you want. All we really know is that Bush ignored all terrorist threats before 9-11 and has made terrorism stronger and the US weaker since 9-11. Bush also let the Saudis and Bin Laden go. So however deeply Bush's corruption goes, he's inept and needs to be impeached and held accountable.

Also, what does that say about Bush that he'd let a lower level guy like CLarke make a decision this important? very very unlikely Bush did that. Bush met with Prince Bandar on 9-12 and this must have come up.
