That's the problem with journalism. Point out to me one example that lives up to accepted literal interpretation. I refer to this definition as a benchmark:

The style of writing characteristic of material in newspapers and magazines, consisting of direct presentation of facts or occurrences with little attempt at analysis or interpretation.

They are either too egotistical to admit their bias or ostracized for being too blunt.
