[ MOT DMT ]

There are some interesting quotes in the EE article.....

"We're not happy to see CopperGold delayed, since it slows the market to a certain extent," said Russ Johnsen, vice president for communication products at Analog Devices here. "Most carriers and larger OEMs, particularly in Europe, want to be standards-based, and to them that means DMT. When there's only one vendor of standard DMT parts out there, some customers may postpone their plans. Oth-ers might look to a temporary CAP solution."

A few things here... ADI and MOT will have standard compliant DMT solutions... where does that leave the ALA and TI solutions.... non-standard!? Finally the DMT camp admits CAP will be deployed... even in Europe. I see a BT contract on the horizon... they must see one also.

Lets take this a step further... IFF Westell can win some of the BT contract... it's going to be CAP. IF BT wants DMT in 6 to 12 months... fine... plug a Westell DMT line card into the existing Westell DSLAM unit. If CAP didn't perform... BT wouldn't deploy it in their network. Again... CAP performs. Even to get the ADI fellows to admit "temporary CAP solution", brings a smile to my face. ADSL is a temporary solution for the next 30-40 years. Is that the type of "temporary" ADI is talking about? < grin >.... until later.
