I can't speak for Tachovsky's moral integrity but your first point is false. Although I wasn't able to dig up any detailed information on Protyde, I did find them mentioned in a WSJ article relating to head hunters. They were interviewing the current CEO of Protyde because he had been brought onboard by a head hunter to replace Tachovsky. So, to answer your question, yes Protyde is still an operating company. Unfortunately, since they are not a public company there is no way to assess their financial health or find out why Tachovsky left them in the first place.
