Thx for the welcome. Which news event do you consider more important on the national scene today--Illegal aliens & the need to tighten our borders, or the perfect storm which is brewing for 2008? I find both to be fascinating subjects. As far as the illegal invasion issue, daily emails to our senators could help get the message across that WE WANT STRONG BORDER SECURITY FIRST!...then we'll discuss the fate of our millions of uninvited guests. The 2nd story prompts a question--Will it be Condi vs. Hillary? The former appears to be the only figure on the national scene who has the credentials, credibility and charisma to lead the GOP in '08. It would be one of the most fascinating and important races in American history. The women had very different childhoods - Hillary's in unchallenging suburban comfort, Condi Rice's in Birmingham, Alabama, during the civil rights era. They've also had very different careers -- Hillary's as an ambitious liberal who attached herself to a gov on the rise, Condi's as a woman of broad and deep talents who has earned her own way. Condi has grown and matured while Hillary has a record of somewhat bland underachievement as both first lady and NY senator. Could a draft Condi movement sweep the secretary of state into the presidency? Are we on the verge of pitting 2 of America's most popular and controversial women against each other? In '08 will we elect a very liberal, polarizing woman, or will we take a giant leap forward by electing not just the first U.S. woman Pres, but also the first African American woman to lead the free world? Inquiring minds want to know. LOL
