No brain is necessary, many single celled bacteria will swim toward light (it keeps them from swimming down to the depths of the ocean where they are unlikely to encounter food).

Single celled bacteria swim toward light? Because they're "unlikely to encounter food" deep under water? Surely you're just making stuff up as you go along, aren't you? Doesn't organic matter sink to the bottom? Do you think it all just floats on the top?

And why are you talking about single celled bacteria anyway? We were discussing the evolution of the eye. Are you suggesting single celled bacteria evolved eyes?
