PB, I think you misunderstand. We were talking earlier about some of the causes of gas going so high. One of them is that Nadar and group mandated use of car seats that are heavy, and bulky, and only two can fit on a seat in the car. IF a family has more than 2 young kids, then they need to get a SUV or other type van. OR if they transport young kids, they do.... Or if there are more than 6 in a family or extended family, they do too...

SUV's, vans, and trucks generally take more gas....and generally (not always) use more gas.

SO the people who have to have SUV's etc have to blame someone other than the energy companies...

There are lots of other reasons for high gas prices as well...

China and India increase their usage
Hurricane Katrina
No new refineries in 30 years
No new drilling
Not much new extraction of oil shale, coal, etc...

NIMBY's on any part of the energy process....and probably this group is the loudest in protesting the current charges....

We've had the baby seats when the grandkids were smaller....we used them. BUT I haven't seen any statistics with reliable studies done, on how many lives are saved by using them versus the old seats that didn't take up as much room.

Hopefully, these new seats are totally worthwhile and do save lives.
