"Necessity is the mother of invention?" If democracy means free peoples I'll guess it lasts after oil is close to history as a prime source of power for America. Fossil fuels as a prime power source are in a small time frame of man's existence on the marble. We already have a myriad number of alternatives to oil for power. Oil has just been cheap and expedient. Oil is rather abundant in the shorter sense of time. It's days are numbered though. The sexy facts are that we already have so many concrete replies to relying on oil for power. Read 'em off: Wind (that's here now) Solar (that's here now) Ocean currents (not workable yet) Biomass (that's here now) Our glass is half full with a capable American President.
