I care because I live here and not there. The wages of the middle class has a direct impact on how well the US economy does, and that impacts a lot of things, including many social things. The bleeding down of the middle class when Britain was shedding their empire made that country a pretty dismal place to live.

You don't live here so why should you care if you're attitude results in a more violent, nasty, reactionary population with increasing problems with drugs and crime?


So your concern stems from your own self interest rather than the greater good. Fine. As far as I'm concerned if the economic trends in aggregate are good for mankind, even if they are detremintel to American wages, I'll support them. If Americans want a better standard of living than the rest of the planet, they've gotta earn it.
