Relative Strength Stops seem a bit tight.

A comment on the Relative Strength stop as suggested by Mr. Ford. I've been using Pitbull for about three months now and so far have been stopped out by the RS each time. Based on my experience so far I would say that the stop range is too tight.

It could be due to the volatility of the market where the high flyers are flying so high as to make for volatile swings in the RS for the less happily so stocks.

I understand the thought behind a five point downdraft and that should a stock fall below 70 it is signalling that it is in trouble. I have no problem with the mechanics of the system but only the amount of the swings.

So for the forseeable future (unless the markets quiet, which seems unlikely) I have adjusted my buying of Power Rated stocks to those whose RS are at least 77 and plan to give a spread of 7 instead of 5 but keeping falling below 70 as the RS exit point. It is not unusual to see good stocks lose 5 points of RS in a week so buying in at 75 or less seems to belay the conservative bent of Pitbull.

Comments anyone?
