A strong, vibrant well compensated middle class is what makes America different from other countries. It's what made us the sole world superpower we are today. We're losing that, mainly from our own greed and stupidity. Perhaps regulation went too far, and some free market correction was called for, but now the free markets are hollowing out America.

If free markets means corporations chasing the lowest paid workers from country to country, the global effect may be positive, but the local effects in already developed countries will be negative.

Some means for dealing with this transition must be found.
