US Fed To Hold Hearings On Home Ownership, Exotic Mtges

.

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--The U.S. Federal Reserve plans to hold hearings in June and July on home-ownership concerns including predatory lending, nontraditional or "exotic" mortgage products and decision making by subprime borrowers.

The hearings will be the Fed's first since 2000 under the Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act, a law passed in the mid-1990s to address reports of predatory home equity lending in underserved markets.

The hearings are scheduled for June 7 at the Chicago Fed, June 9 at the Philadelphia Fed, June 16 at the San Francisco Fed and July 11 at the Atlanta Fed, the Fed said in a press release Monday.
