War and what goes on in war is not nice. Anyone who thinks differently is only lying to themselves. It is definitely not right, what happened over there, no question. However, I am surprised anyone is surprised it happened. We're humans, we are capable of doing things like that to each other and war promotes that kid of environment and behaviour. It would have happened with or without senior leadership "approval." There hasn't been a war or a victor that has not exhibited that type of behaviour. Biblical wars killed everyone, the loot went to the victors, no questions. If the women were left alive they were raped to ensure they bore the victors children. War is terrible. It has been since the beginning of everything.
