Longnshort, When the government raises gas taxes to record-high levels, it's called "saving the planet."

Actually, raising the gas tax would be a very simple and effective way to reduce consumption. Besides, some Republicans want to move to a consumption tax anyway.

Of course, the little guy gets screwed, as usual. That's why Dems want to tax the oil companies, not the gas consumers themselves.
