The Russian offer is being hyped again today as a possible solution. We tend to whine alot about the problems iran could cause the US economy with $100 oil. Yeah we could have a recession from that particularly if the fed decides to fight the inflation from oil rather than the pending recession. Meanwhile to date oil does not pass through the system as inflation---there is price resistance to oil, by products and the imports of other goods and the work of immigrants give us some deflation to offset oil with. But i digress.
The Iranians have much to worry about in an economic clash with the US. Their economy teeters. Inflation is high and is being driven higher by the new prez. Do you ever watch the new TV show Deal or No Deal? They just may take the deal they can get than to risk whats left of their economic well being. The people are quiet now and supportive of the govt on nukes---if the economy were to really fall apart, who knows?
