Scott, this is a speculative response to your question, i.e., I do not know this to be true but post in order to stimulate further discussion by those more knowledgable. The traditional telecom carriers are fighting GG's dark fiber concept tooth and nail, as you know. They believe their core competency to be switching which is a polite way of saying that's how they make their money and dark fiber takes them out of the game. There is only one carrier that has both the fiber capacity to sell AND the maverick mentality to sell it "dark". That company is WCOM. I do not say that WCOM is doing it presently or even that I have seen announced plans to do so. But if anybody would do it, Bernie Ebbers would be the guy. Comments? Regards, Mike Doyle
