I don't really know what this means; maybe you or Mish could think of something.

When I finished grad school in '72, I had been working summers in a cannery for maybe as much as $4/hr. Gas, in general was 32.9 cents but I could almost always get it in a gas war for 25 cents, so, I would get over 10 gals of gas/ hr of work, at what was probably a bit over minimum wage. Baby Girl, about to start college, can buy 2 gals at minimum wage.
It must mean something, or several things. Inflation, end of cheap gas, a commentary on the minimum wage or wages in general; there is something there, but I'm not sure what it is.
