This book excellently describes how Microsoft was built. amazon.com It might change your opinion of Gates, who was much more of a cutthroat backstabbing pirate than any kind of engineering genius. It's also covers Apple's early days and more. Quite an entertaining read too. I think Gates is doing great things with the money NOW - but I credit his wife for that.
