Hi Frank,

Last year's MIMO was a solid 3 x 802.11g, and this year's MIMO is 4 x 802.11g, choosing rate or range or some combination of both. Last year's MIMO will not software upgrade to the standard, but this year's MIMO (EWC) might.

Enterprise IT spends as much to install an Access Point as the AP costs, but there is a one-time for wiring, switch port, etc. Replacing that installed AP costs little more than the price of the AP, and newer network management/troubleshooting features add to the attractiveness. Enterprise IT is not installing heterogenuous Wi-Fi if they can avoid it, too little is being tested by the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA).

Home networking is a different story, with a different cast of decision makers. In the US, anything under $300 is throw-away money.
