Al, That the US staunchily opposed UN initiatives on sanctions against Iraq is completely lost on you. For years France and other nations tried to relax selectively these sanctions to reduce the effect on civilians and particularly children, and for as many years the US vetoed and stimied the effort.

What's the point of sanctions then, if you can't stick with them? With oppressive regimes, sanctions only hurt the innocent and empower the strongmen.


What's the point of rigid sanctions that hurt the innocent and have no real effect on the regime? And what point were you making about the French supporting the sanctions that hurt the innocent...you can't have it both ways.

You can't bring up one point without your smug, arrogant side showing ...

Nor you having your red/leather neck tendencies peering through the thin patina of intellect.
