I dont buy your 20-30 years thing if we drill anwar. And even if true how long will it take to get this oil--years we just do not have.

As for "spending whatever it takes to develop an alternative fuel, perhaps ethanol perhaps hydrogen, whatever works" at the price points you are looking for--lets say back to $2, only the government could undertake such a project at the taxpayers expense. John--thats you. What are you a socialist or something. I advocated using the tax system to get us to the same place and allow the aggressive private sector to sort out winners and losers among alternate energy providers.
