Goldman Sachs Cuts Computer Hardware Sector To Neutral

Friday, May 05, 2006 12:16:43 PM ET
Dow Jones Newswires

Goldman Sachs analyst Laura Conigliaro on Friday cut her rating on the technology hardware sector to neutral from attractive.

In a research note, Conigliaro said the March quarter's stronger performance was "atypical" and that the sector is entering a choppy business period.

Conigliaro said Dell Inc.'s (DELL.NAS) new strategy of targeted prices cuts has left her uncertain about the No. 1 personal-computer company, and that overall business in Europe could be disrupted late in the current quarter due to the World Cup soccer tournament being held in Germany.
