Since 2000 the rightwing has been corrupt. Before that, I had mixed feelings about them. for instance, I never considered Dick Armey or Newt Gingrich corrupt, nor Bob Dole and Jack Kemp. But ever since Rove-Delay-Cheney-Bush took over it's been hogs at the trough time. Plus rampant election fraud and smear campaigns. In fact the smears began during Whitewater.
A lot of this had to do with the Texas energy thieves serving as an example, and getting away with stealing 30 billion from the west coast, starting the day after Bush-Cheney were nominated. That emboldened them to be more and more corrupt.
Back in the 80's the S+L deregulators were corrupt. Those were 75% Repubs but also 25% Dems, mainly Dems from Texas where much of the corruption always seems to start. So Dems were not perfect and used to be even worse. But now it's a different story.
The GOP simply needs to clean house now. Leaders like McCain, Hagel, Romney, Specter, these are not corrupt people. So follow them. But don't cry when Frist, Santorum, Cheney, Pombo, Doolittle, Hunter and the rest go down. They deserve it. |
