Silver Wheaton to List on the New York Stock Exchange
Symbol: SLW

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 5, 2006) - Silver Wheaton Corp. (TSX:SLW)(AMEX:SLW) is pleased to announce the approval of application to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE"). Silver Wheaton expects that its common shares will begin trading on the NYSE on Tuesday, May 9, 2006. The NYSE has reserved the trading symbol "SLW" for Silver Wheaton's common shares. The Company will retain its primary listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the trading symbol "SLW".

"As a rapidly expanding silver company, we view this as a great achievement considering the Company is so young," said Peter Barnes, Silver Wheaton President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our move to the New York Stock Exchange represents an opportunity to reach a broader investment base in the United States, and will help us gain greater exposure in this critical investing market."

Silver Wheaton is the only public mining company with 100% of its revenue from silver production. The Company expects to have annual silver sales of approximately 15 million ounces in 2006, increasing to 20 million ounces by 2009 and thereafter. Silver Wheaton is unhedged and well positioned for further growth.
