I'm holding my breath in the hope that us former BrownCo customers don't face the same problems as former HarrisDirect customers did in the switchover to E-Trade.

My wife's IRA account is in the process of being transferred to TD Ameritrade. It was linked with my other three BrownCo accounts, and suddenly it dropped off the E-Trade screen. In speaking with a rep I was told it was for "security reasons". Huh! While it was still available/visible in the BrownCo site (until Friday) I started the transfer process to TD Ameritrade (also a recent merger of Ameritrade and TD Waterhouse) with which I had a small account primarily for using their streamer.

Since my trading "plan" is to stay in cash until June, I won't miss my inability to trade for the 7-10 days they say the transfer will take.

I don't know if I will be satisfied with either the new TD Ameritrade or E-Trade formats/execution/responsiveness, but I'll give both a shot to see if they meet my needs. I loved BrownCo's format and excellent execution.

So let's stay in touch and see how things develop, and possibly suggest experiences with other (discount) brokerage houses.

Success to all!

Bernie
