Hey rrufff, I'm not in this, but thought of you when I saw it. Aphatrade sent me this e-mail...could be good for a boost.
Sense to Present Advanced MEMS-Based Portable Explosives Detection Demonstrator System in Online Video Webcast Today _______________________
Video to Show Function of Handheld Detector for Use in Identification of Concealed Explosives in Homeland Security Applications
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—BUSINESS WIRE—MAY 5, 2006—Sense Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: SEHO; FWB: OUP), a developer of next-generation biometric and explosive detection security technologies for government and commercial security markets, will present via streaming web-based video a functional demonstration of the Company’s innovative MEMS-based explosives detection system (EDS), at 4:01pm Eastern today.
The video presentation will be available for viewing by all interested Homeland Security investors. It will also be archived for future reference at the Web link listed below.
In the video, Dore Perler, CEO of Sense Holdings, will demonstrate the use and performance of a demonstration model of the Company’s planned MEMS-based explosive detection device product line. The current demonstrator device can detect the explosive materials TNT and PETN.
Sense intends to develop a full line of compact, lightweight handheld explosive detection devices under the Company's "Sense-it" label. Based on the Company's proprietary Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology, Sense plans to market the handheld detectors for use at airports, shipping ports and other transportation infrastructure, sports stadiums and other public venues.
“I’m excited that investors and potential customers will now be able to see the performance of Sense’s MEMS-based handheld explosives detection technology,” said CEO Dore Perler. “We have made great progress developing the technology for commercial use. This early demonstrator model is designed to show how our proprietary technology, when marketed commercially, will set new industry standards in terms of portability, cost and functionality.”
MEMS structures are fabricated in a similar fashion to mass-produced electronic integrated circuits and can be applied to the detection of a wide range of illicit and dangerous threats, including explosives, chemical warfare agents, biological warfare agents and narcotics. Sense intends to commercialize a portfolio pipeline of novel detection devices capable of sensing many of these threats and substances.
According to industry sources, the US market for explosive detection systems (EDS) is currently estimated to be $3.5 billion, and expected to grow to $10 billion by 2010 as advanced technologies penetrate and expand the marketplace.
Sense is developing its line of advanced detection products under a research and development partnership with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN, which is operated by the US Department of Energy. Sense is the sole commercialization partner with exclusive rights for the manufacture, sale and distribution of MEMS-based handheld devices for homeland security product applications and markets.
