That shouldn't be relevant. Military officers take an oath to defend the Constitution. Whether or not they like a particular individual should not be important.

This is why Ollie North should have faced a Court Marshall. His statement about supporting his President was grounds. As an officer, his duty was not to the president, but to the Constitution. Granted, he was forced into retirement over it, but that really wasn't enough.
