I looked at the libertarian candidate, but frankly he didn't seem like someone who could lead our country. Kerri had a lot of great ideas for where we needed to go, including a decent energy policy. Plus, he was a man who could rebuild America's image around the world. Sure Kerri is a Democrat, but that doesn't make him a bad candidate. That's really the problem with American politics and why John says the system is broken. Everyone just votes for one party or another. What they should be doing is look at the man and see if he'd be a good leader. Then look at his policies and determine if you'd buy into them.

The problem with the way people vote now is that our founders built the country to have 3 branches of government: Judicial, Legislative, and Executive. The way people vote now is they will vote for a party in both the Legislative and Executive branches. This means that our country is effectively run by a party, not by the best individuals for the job. If people voted on the person, not the party, we'd be in MUCH better shape now.

Hell, I'm guilty of it too. When I voted for Bush the first time around, I voted for the party and for his father's legacy. Bush Sr was a good and smart man with a heck of a lot of foreign diplomatic experience and clout. So I thought I was getting Bush Sr redux. I got a facade instead. You know the old saying: "Get fooled once shame on you, get fooled twice, shame on me." So I voted for the better man the second time around, not the party.
