Most of the list you mentioned did not consist of "Republican bodies". Certainly Democrats have been involved in a number of corruption scandals. Probably not quite as many in congress recently because the money tends to flow to the people in power. Democrats took money from Abramoff's clients (even if the majority of it went to Republicans. There were corruption problems associated with the Clinton administration and with Democratic members of congress at that time.

The Republican leaders mentioned like Frist are mostly corrupt in the same way the Democrats are corrupt. They like the perks of power and often care more about them than what's good for the country. I would say the majority of the politicians in both parties fall in this category. Not openly corrupt, probably not taking bribes, but corrupt in small ways that are often legal, and if not legal are hard to detect and punish.
