Enron and Bush-Cheney were almost the same entity leading into the 2000 election. Check out Bush's first cabinet choices. Mostly Enron cronies. Bush-Cheney ran campaign operations out of Enron HQ and used their private jets for free until they were caught doing it. Enron paid form Bush's religious right organizer Ralph Reed. Enron and Lay had given Bush about 1.5 million over the years, the most a corp has ever given a politician.

There is an entire book called "The Dirty Truth" detailing all the Bush-Enron dealings over the years. The key to this reliationship was their goal to deregulate energy around the world so they could gouge, fleece and jack up the price of energy. That was their #1 goal as an administration and might have been why they picked Cheney as VP, to manage it, and also manage the Iraq invasion which would give them more oil and make Halliburton over 10 billion.

Bush-Cheney lied and covered up over and over during the Enron-led gouging of the west coast. It was a 30+ billion ripoff and Bush-Cheney claimed it was "market forces" at work. They knew that was a lie. They also used the same PR liar Ed Gillespie to try and blame the energy crisis on democrats. Bush later promoted him to head the RNC.
